9.25.2010 Cincinnati Ohio. Chili spaghetti, whatever that is. Midnight Spin joins the festival circuit. Cincinnati’s Mid-Point Music Festival (or MPMF for short) was one of those 2000’s four-letter festivals like NXNW (Toronto) and another one in Austin whose name I can’t remember for mid-tier and lower level bands.
We played outdoors at Fountain Square downtown. We were pumped~ it was our first festival (we did play another one 5 days later, but this was still our first!) ~ The set was fast and loud and we threw in a cover of Psycho Killer because the Tom Tom Club was playing about a half-mile away.
Lolirockerie caught a few videos of our set including an early track called Burn. Burn is a rarity in the Midnight Spin catalog usually only reserved for second encores, but in 2010 it was still a mid-set burner.
(BTW A common theme with these posts has been venues or things that don’t exist anymore … I get the feeling 90% of the music industry turns over every 5 years anyway. I promise it’s not intentional, but I’ll admit it is a little depressing)
The festival guide described Midnight spin as “a classic rock-informed amalgamation of The Killers, The Strokes, and The Bravery”. Pretty cool to see your band in print. It was a fun couple days and a really well run festival. Hope it comes back.
The rest of the bill:
The Bastard Suns: 7:00 PM
Da Muttss : 8:00 PM
Midnight Spin: 9:00 PM
Oh My God: 10:00 PM
One thing is for sure, we didn’t walk out the same way we came in. HOW YOU DOIN, NEW YORK CITY?!?
